GA4 and Tag Manager, in detail.
Know where your sales come from
Without proper tracking, every marketing decision is a guess. Google Analytics 4 can tell you which channels, campaigns and products bring in sales, but only if it's set up correctly. Many stores have GA4 installed and still see missing purchases, double-counted orders or traffic labelled as 'unassigned'.
I set up GA4 and Google Tag Manager properly, check the data matches your real orders, and turn it into reports you can actually use.
- Missing purchasesEvery purchase tracked
- Double-counted ordersOne event per order
- Traffic labelled 'unassigned'Channels labelled properly
GA4 setup and configuration
We create or fix your GA4 property and data streams, set the right data retention, exclude internal traffic, define key events (conversions), and connect GA4 to Google Search Console, Google Ads and Merchant Center. For larger stores, we can also export raw data to BigQuery.

Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager keeps all your tracking tags in one organised place, instead of scattered through your site's code. We set up a clean container with GA4, Google Ads, Meta, TikTok and other tags, named and documented so anyone can understand what fires and when.
E-commerce and conversion tracking
Proper e-commerce tracking follows the full journey: product views, add to cart, checkout steps and purchases, with product names, prices and order values. We set this up on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a custom site, and test it with real orders until the numbers match.
We also set up consent mode so tracking respects your visitors' cookie choices, which is important for UK and EU visitors.

Without proper tracking, every marketing decision is a guess.
Looker Studio dashboards
GA4's own reports can be hard to read. We build a simple Looker Studio dashboard that brings together your website traffic, sales, ad spend and marketplace numbers in one place, showing the things that matter to you, updated automatically.

Monthly reporting in plain language
Each month you get a short written summary: what happened, why it matters, and what we recommend doing next. No jargon and no 40-page exports.

Common tracking problems we fix
When I audit GA4 accounts, the usual problems are duplicate purchase events from both a plugin and a hard-coded tag, missing purchases from payment pages that leave the site, referral traffic from payment providers stealing credit for sales, internal visits counted as customers, and key events that were never marked as conversions. Each one distorts the numbers you base decisions on.

- Purchases lost on payment pages that leave the sitePurchases still recorded

What the first month looks like
In week one, we audit your GA4 property, Tag Manager container and ad platform tracking, and compare GA4's numbers with your real orders. In week two, you get a short written list of what's wrong, what's missing and how we'll fix it. Once you approve it, we rebuild or repair the tracking, test it with real orders and set up your Looker Studio dashboard.
By the end of the month you have tracking you can trust and one simple dashboard that answers the questions you actually ask: where sales come from, which campaigns pay, and which products are growing.
